The Silent witness

Alex ran a hand through his hair. The media had already named the killer. The Card Reaper. The pattern was unmistakable, but the motive remained elusive.

“Detective,” Officer Ramirez called out, holding up a small security camera. “Found this near the alley.”
Back at the station, Alex and his tech specialist, Lisa, scoured the footage. A shadowy figure appeared on the screen, lingering near the victim just moments before the attack. The figure turned toward the camera, and for a brief second, the flickering streetlight revealed something chilling – a pair of familiar green eyes.
Alex’s blood ran cold. He knew those eyes

He reached his car, dialing a number he never thought he’d call again. ”Ethan, ”he said when the line connected, “we need to talk Now.”
Ethan Carter, his estranged brother, had vanished five years ago after a botched undercover case. And now, he was back – right in the center of Alex’s murder investigation.
